Hey folks, first of all, hello again! I know it's been years since I've been here, and I'm not on social media anymore.
Truth is, I'm heading into retirement and only keeping a couple of my prized clients such as NPR Atlanta.
However, my son is following in my tracks (yay!) and we are looking for an alternative to WavSplitter (formerly word2wav).
I've used it for YEARS but am having issues getting it to install on my new laptop and their "customer service" hasn't been of much help. I'm frustrated and my son would like something that is also MAC friendly.
Are you aware of any similar programs for splicing and naming large amounts of e-learning files?
Thanks in advance and I hope all of you are healthy, happy and doing wonderfully well! _________________ Scott R. Pollak

For years Connie Terwilliger has been our word2wav expert. Liz deNesnera might offer some good guidance.
Their VO-BB user names are ConnieTerwilliger (no space) and Lizden.

Thanks, Bruce. I know both of them well!
Seems like so far, based on extensive searching, there just isn't another program out there that does what WavSplitter does. I like the program, but sometimes getting help from the founder when you have issues is problematic and frustrating. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

It requires a subscription but it's possible that Descript might be a utility that could work for that purpose. I've been using it to generate text from audio/video for subtitles or easy search and edit for a variety of projects. It might be worth looking into or could also not even be remotely useful. Figured I would mention it though! |

I've tested many crappy versions that all had glitches and were never released. The one alternate I really love is proprietary to that particular client so it isn't available. Strangely, everyone I've spoken to who has designed these say it is easy if you know programming. We need an audio professional that can program! _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

I've tried so many times to learn Python. I think I'm just going to be stuck being a gear head... 😂 |

Just seeing this - months late - I'll see if I can get a response from Herve. I had to reinstall and reregister earlier this year and he was around for that. _________________ Playing for a living...

My apologies for not responding before now.
First of all, thank you, Lance. Even though "semi-retired", my handful of great clients still keep me busier than I'd like.
We were finally able to get the new version working successfully on my new computer and all is well.
But I do agree that a brilliant programmer should seriously think about creating an alternative that is perhaps more current, more flexible and maybe less "bug-gy".
Best wishes to all of you for a beautiful holiday season and a prosperous, healthy and peace-filled 2024. _________________ Scott R. Pollak
