Spam is the scourge of the internet.

I have had a slight decrease in the amount of spam lately, but an increase in the number of spam emails purporting to be from one of my own addresses, so I can't block them Frown

I've been getting an average of 48 spam a day on my gmail account, and in the past 24 hours I've gotten 30. I'm not impressed yet.

Spam would disappear if it didn't work so well.

Hear ye hear ye Greg... You made a valuable point. I think most of us can say we hate spam, but if Hobo Toungel didn't acknowledge it nor reply to it, it would disappear.

Another point taken at this thread is the increase in spam. IE: AOL has had spywhere for quite some time and recently removed that service. They claim to be working with McAfee. I have McAfee but have noticed a HUGE increase in spam on my AOL email addy's the past few days.

Coinsedence? Maybe, maybe not. The spam going to my "dot comcast dot net" email addresses is still minimal.

For about 6 months, my web company's mail server was being bombarded by over 500,000 spam messages a day to a single e-mail address that, thankfully, didn't even exist on the server.

Now, our server is actually properly configured, unlike many, and so we didn't bounce the messages...we just didn't accept them.

Suddenly about three weeks ago, they stopped.

Somebody in Eastern Europe / Asia finally did their job Smile

Hey, I'm down to 23 spams a day during the past week on my Gmail account, down from about 48 a day! Let's nuke some more bad servers!

I still get quite a few in Chinese which means these guys don't give a frick about what kind of lists they sell to their clients or who they send this stuff to.

Man, that is some stream-of-unconsciousness.
