Does anyone have any experience with the Microport Pro?? Just wondering if it is a good piece. Wondering if there is a noticable loss of quality or fidelity in the xlr to usb conversion>>> etc....anyone, anyone?? Sarcastic

Please search the archives here on the VO-BB. There are several hundred posts regarding the MHobo Tounge.

Hey Mike,

Our dear Frank did a review of it a while back:

A nifty little device!
I have one & it works great!

George - why won't the Micport work with Adobe Audition 1.0?

Actually, a client of mine and I figured out how to get it to work in Audition 1.5. When setting up the Devices, make sure you check "USE IN EDIT VIEW"
for Input and Output, that was the ticket.
It requires extra tweaking since Audition 1.5 and earlier is not ASIO compliant.

I have AA 1.0 (!!) on my desktop,a nd a more recent version on my laptop. For the latter, no problem. For the former, it works, but man! did I get a lot of static just the other day when I used the MicPort Pro as a quick remedy for some perma-studio obstacles I encountered. Inputs were fine, soundcard selection fine (or, rather, all parameters to ensure workability for the MicPort Pro) etc etc. But the audio was not usable. It was, to describe it in a civilized manner, blech.

Oftentimes one needs to make sure the audio sample rate is selected properly.

Make sure you are using (your choice) 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. Additionally and especially on a laptop, when using the MHobo Tounge, try recording a few seconds and playing back PRIOR to doing the actual recording. Some laptop soundcards will need parameters changed as well. Listen through the MHobo Tounge for an actual sound check when recording.

Additionally, using the free program on the this site may help: www.ASIO4ALL.com

Whoops, that is what I get for typing in the dark. The electricity went off when typing the post. But, at least I know the UPS worked.

Thank you Bob!

This is so true, there are several USB devices such as this out on the market but for my money the MHobo Tounge beats MOST of them hands down. Yes, there are a few things I would prefer with the little device, but the MHobo Tounge does work and works well.
