VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

Hi Folks,

I have to ask if any member of Voices.com has ever received a private message from false clients. I don't know how else to say it.
Someone sent me this today through support@voices.com

Phone: 36491232

Details: hghhjhgh hghhhh ghjgh hhhghghhhhjhjhh

I know these things happen, but I'd feel better knowing that I'm not alone as since I can't help but think someone out there is targeting me specifically. There's only been one incident so far but it will bother me a lot if it continues.

I'd like to hear from some people.

report it to Voices.com, but be aware that your profile has a public way to contact you. I wouldn't worry about this any more than I'd worry about spam.

And yes, I've gotten junk mail through my profile as well.

Hi Jeffrey,

It's hard for me not to worry about it because you see I was bullied ALL of my school life, even up to my senior year. I hear all the time how people google names of their friends or just names of people they knew in school. I'm well aware that my name is available to the public but I just feel that this 'junk mail' is from someone who teased me years ago and now has found a way to tease me again.

I did report it to Laurynda but she's out of town till Monday.

Jeff is right in that you definitely should not worry about it.

What you got is called "form spam" and it's extremely common on the net.

Computers run automated programs to "read" through the code that makes up a webpage and, if they find a form, to automatically fill it in with garbage, usually including some type of sales messages or a link to a site with a virus / some other malicious bit of software on it.

Sometimes, you'll get form spam that has next to nothing in it...this is usually the programmer testing his automated software.

It's very unlikely personal...I'm sure if you got it then many people on the voices.com site got it, too, because those forms don't require any type of validation to be used.

I got one of those about a month ago and reported it to Voices.com right away. They have a pretty hefty SP*M filter but sometimes things get through.

I too agree that it was not personal....it's just the nature of the 'net.

But...I'm really sorry about your bullying experience...I had few of those in grade school and they can leave a mark....

In this case though, I would chalk it up to sp*m.

I was getting those pretty regularly and contacted Voices about it...it is Sp*m....they cooled off for a while, but got one again the other day. Arg.

Unfortunately Mary, if you're on the internet with a profile, etc. you're fair game for this kind of stuff. Just delete and don't spend time worrying about it too much. Smile
