Oh this daggone program will be the death of me! Anywho, I'm using an AT4043 mic with PT LE 7.4 on a MacBookPro with the MBox2 Pro, so I guess that makes me a pro of some sort, and all of the sudden I can't get a decent waveform on my recording. I have the knob turned all the way up on the MBox and I am barely making a blip on the recording line. No lovely peaks and valleys for this girl. It looks like scribble from a doctor's signature. The only way I can get it to clip is to clap my hands. I put the mic right next to my mouth and didn't scream but spoke very loudly and still nada. I've checked all of my plugs and stuff and they are all working and the mic is facing the right way, yes I even thought that might have been it. I did turn the mic upside down and it is now hanging from the shockmount but I can't imagine that would affect the sound coming in. Any idea what I have done to upset the gods of potoos? Thanks. _________________ Pam Tierney

It's been a while since I've used ProTools, but are you sure you've selected the MBox as your audio source in your session setup? Sometimes it's the simplest things that get us.
I gave up on PT after several failed attempts. I am a very recent convert (within a few weeks) to Cubase LE and am very impressed with it. But that's a subject for another thread. |

Pam,
2 things to check, assuming that you're running your microphone staight in to your MBox and not through a pre-amp of some kind:
1. Is the phantom power button on? (The thing that says "48v")
2. Did you accidentally push one of the "pad" buttons in?
The second question actually applies even if you are running through a pre-amp of some sort. _________________ Be well,

Pam,
I'm not sure your level of knowledge with Pro Tools, but outside of what has already been stated, ensure you have "Record" enabled for the track and that the Input Path selector Interface Input is set to the correct input of your MBox.
Also, see if you can hear yourself with headphones connect to your MBox 2 pro.

Thanks everyone. The pad button was the culprit. Uncle Bob to the rescue once again! _________________ Pam Tierney

Pam,
All I am is the guy who made that mistake before you, and remembered. _________________ Be well,

Pam- Glad it's resolved. Stuff like that drives me crazeeee. Today I was hooking back all my stuff in my studio through the mixer after returning from traveling and couldn't remember which plugs went where. Had to do a little listen and -re-learn.
Like Bob, I must be better at remembering. _________________ Bobbin Beam
