Now Bruce- I would have loved to have seen that!

The commercial was shot at night because they couldn't find a restaurant willing to close during the day. The 'daylight' you see in the window was a giant spotlight sitting outside. We shot this when tropical storm Fay had just hit the area- so there were major tropical rains and wind all night. We filmed between claps of thunder. The poor make-up guy couldn't do anything with my hair in the humidity, and I was so tired- he had to cake on the concealer! After 2am, Greer (the other actor) and I couldn't remember our lines. Take after take we took turns messing up. We finally got a couple of good ones in and they called it a night.

As for the pig- the original concept had us using live pigs. However, health code regulations made it impossible for livestock to be in a restaurant. So, they hired someone to create animatronic pigs. They were so real, it was scary! It took 4 people to make it work.

Funny story- I'm scared of puppets and people in costumes, so the director had to have a little talk with me after the first couple of takes. Apparently, I looked scared of the pig, and they wanted me to just look surprised by it. Between takes, I just kept staring at this little pig, so scary! Poor Greer developed a rash on her arm from the fake hair.

Kara,
You looked and sounded wonderful, kiddo. Aren't you glad you didn't get cast in Greer's role with your phobia and all?
Sounds like you earned your money on this shoot. Thanks for sharing it.

Good job as always Kara!
Maybe in Tampa you'll be cast with some Fee Gulls...

Great commercial Kara! I'm guessing that the pig "noises" were added later?

I noticed that the pig wore no lipstick.

I love this commercial, Kara... the snorting pig makes me laugh every time I see it. I showed it to Tony last night... he too loved it!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around your being afraid of puppets and people in costumes. A word to the wise: two weeks from Friday, don't open the door. Ninja

Kara --
You are simply adorable..
The pigs looked real to me...
and if they spent all the money to have anamatronic pigs, why couldn't they get the grammar correct in the tag?
Best of luck with the Home buy.
