Ideally SC uses at least 512k sustained up and down minimum. See their site for parameters.

To be accurate:
MINIMUM NETWORK REQUIREMENTS
The following is the default on most networks:
# Minimum bandwidth of 300kbps upload and download
RECOMMENDED NETWORK REQUIREMENTS
The better your upload and download speed, the better quality you will get with Source-Connect. If you are able to upgrade your bandwidth to the recommended requirements this can dramatically improve the quality you can send.
# Bandwidth of at least 512kbps upload and download _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Sorry, I jumped the gun with my comment, So, 512k up and down is the ultimate way to go. More latency, more trouble with less or is that less trouble with more almost good experience?.

Well, I just got back from a trip out west and finally have time to reply and thank everyone for the discussion.
Ben, I just ran the demo for Crush FTP and tried to upload a 300mb file. It disappointingly ran even slower than my normal ftp software at 53k...
I am at a complete loss as to why this is happening. It's as if my computer has a stranglehold on outgoing files. |

Again, are you sure the speed test you ran showed you your upload speed in KB (kilobytes) and not kb (kilobits)?
If it's 500kb, then 53KB upload speed is about right (give or take a bit). _________________ Lou Zucaro

Dan,
If I understand Crush FTP's purpose correctly, you don't use FTP to upload to it. You copy the files to your in-house Crush FTP server over your network. Then your client downloads from that server over the Internet.
Are you saying a file copy ran that slow over your network? Or that you were trying to use an FTP upload to get your files from your workstation to your server? _________________ Be well,

I believe Bob is correct. It sounds as though Crush either partitions part of your drive etc to use as a server. There should be no upload bog down within the same machine. You probably just add the audio to a file that is public and then the client can get it via a password log-in.
I have not set it up myself so I am just talkin out my !@##$. So check with KG or Anthony. They use it and love it. I will get it hooked in soon. _________________ Ben
