Sigh. I can relate after my years in radio newsrooms in various places.

Chuck, when were you at WIKE? I was at WKVT AM/FM for years, in Brattleboro.

As for the real look of the newsroom, I can't help but think of whole chickens half-consumed, and broken chairs. That was the legacy of the news director Tim Johnson. He still works in southern VT.

Oh, and Kasey, nice. What a pleasure to do local news from home.! Don't forget to look out the window before you give a weather check, eh??

Yup.. I totally remember being married to that second hand as you backtimed to the network news while doing a music shift in a small market.

Ahh....Memories of 1490 WIKE in Newport VT. That was real radio folks.

At WFEA in Manchester, NH we used to have a huge wall clock that was tied in to Western Union and would automatically sync at the top of every hour. Sometimes, if we wanted to freak out one of our visiting radio buddies, we'd invite him into the studio as we back-timed the last song of the hour and he'd smugly be thinking it was going to end way too soon. Then, just as the song was ending, the second hand of the clock would zoom ahead 18 seconds in self-correction mode and the timing would turn out to be perfect.

Also back in the 70s, a few friends, including a couple of my former WFEA cohorts, and I looked into buying WIKE but decided against it.

FEA is pretty much on auto pilot all of the time now....ain't nothin sadder than a dark, empty voice tracked/satellite studio. Ah...the good ole days.

The Shure SM7 of course mounted on the spiffy OC White Pro Boom (that I snagged on ebay for 20 bucks thanks to the seller listing it as a table top mic stand), Behringer Xenyx 1204 into Behringer MDX1600 into the PC running AA 1.5
Thanks for the compliment.
