Thanks Yoda, I must be rubbing off on some folks...
One thing about MOTU products, they will work with PT and with other a s as well. The key to the situation is not loading PT or trying to run any DigiDesign stuff when you want to use the MOTU with Audition or another application.
Bouncing longer files in PT can be dangerous and is likely caused by one or more of several issues. Since I am assuming you are running PT on a PC, optimization for audio is not only a good thing it should be a requirement when using any DD product. This means buffers, ASIO, RAM drives, more RAM than necessary, turning off all non-essential "resource" hungry applications, and a few hundred other things.
I am now using PT (reluctantly) more often, but do not know enough to guide you through the problems toward a "fix". Now if you were talking Nuendo, Vegas, AA, Cakewalk, Live, etc, I might be able to give you a more guided approach to a resolution.
