Bill, Can I run the Symetrix TI-101 through an M-Audio Fast Track Pro interface? I'm still not very tech savvy although I'm slowly learning.

Sorry, I haven't been able to visit here often.

If you're not using a separate mixer, I don't think it will. Symetrix recommends useing a spare channel outside of the mix to for the mic. With more options out there it would probably be best to consider another solution. Good luck!

With some clever routing in your multitrack DAW (Pro Tools, Audition, etc) you can use a phone patch with an audio interface like an M-Box or Fastrack Pro (or any audio interface with two inputs or more). You create a mic track in the DAW and route the mic track both left and right channel output of your sound interface, connect that RIGHT output to the input of the phone patch. The output of the phone patch feeds the second input of your sound interface. In the DAW, you create a track for the phone interface, and make sure it only outputs to the LEFT output of your sound interface. That gives you the "mix minus" you need so the caller doesn't hear herself looped back. Then just monitor in Mono if hearing the caller in both ears is better for you.

Anthony, Anthony. I'm here. Can you hear me now? How about now???

I've been reading all of the responses and this post has taken on a life of its own. I installed Skype with Frank Frederick's help. Ran it through my Fast Track Pro audio interface and it sounded great. Unfortunately when I went to record in Sound Forge the meters were frozen. Frank hepled me check that everything that should or shouldn't be clicked was all set. But still no meters. So I had to uninstall Skype then meters were fine.

We all know that Frank knows what he is doing. Frank is continuing to ponder and research the situation which is why I haven't updated anyone. So that's why you haven't heard from me and it's not because I don't love you all dearly and appreciate your help.

Well, the her is an update from Skype themselves.

Apparently the latest and greatest version doesn't play well with some/most other software and hardware. Sick (i,.e.: Greg Best installed and lost input audio, removed, re-installed, removed, re-installed, restored the PC, re-installed, removed and finally went back to a previous version of Skype by downloading from a non-Skype site - that worked - so far) I have several stories of such problems with the newer version of Skype.

So for now, unless you are able to find a previous version of Skype, do not use the current "new" version or the beta until there are some bug fixes.

I will be searching for an older version for *Chrissy and get her Skype working with the software. Shhheeesh, and I thought this was going to be easy.

Toodles

* edited to offer the correct person I have been working with on this problem. No reflection on either Mandy or Chrissy, just my brain ahving a lack of oxygen moment.

Oh dear Frank how could you? You've forgotten my name already and I thought since we had shared such lively Skype moments together that our friendship meant more to you than this. I think I shall just have to go drown my sorrows in some gooey, chocolatey thinky.

Embarrassed I am so sorry, I was writing two posts at once Chrissy, and the other was to Mandy, et al.

But, do not let my apology stop you from enjoying the chocolate. There is nothing in life that should ever stop you from eating chocolate. And, there are many things in life to encourage eating more!

I am currently using Skype 3.8.0.139

However anything before this version would be a good choice.

My apologies to both of you dear Ladies.

Toodles

(humbly yours) Frank F
