Try checking your ASIO latency. From the description of your problem I ascertain there is an issue with latency or buffers. Too high gives you clicks, too low gives pops and wows or nothing at all.

Good luck.

Already tried, Frank. No difference. Also tried an external powered USB port (in case problem is due to power not being sufficiant) which actually made it much worse. The laptop is running at about 50% resources so RAM isn't the problem. My specs are way above what's required. I just reformatted the drive the week prior so no issues there.

Joe:
Did you provide CEntrance with the specifics of the model of computer you are using? There may be a conflict with your "chipset".
We might have addressed this already but do you have any of the same issues when using a different audio interface, such as the computer's on-board sound?
You might not like this answer, but I'd consider changing computers if you want to continue using the MicPort Pro.

Thanks for the shout out!

I just noticed you mentioned you are using 50% of the resources. (This did not click when I originally read the post)

I would be for checking out why so high. When using the MHobo Tounge on my system I use only around 9%, according to Task Manager. I would NOW suggest you look into your startup files in MSCONFIG and make sure you do not have something which is taking up all of your resources..

It might be a good idea to take anything which is in startup which is not necessary out of the loop.

I cannot be more specific as I do not have the ability to play with your computer.

Good luck.

What wasn't made clear is his resources of 50% is WHILE running Source Connect Desktop and Source Connect running, I believe, which is a large resource user.

I am working with SE to get a VST host for SC with lower CPU usage...

Good luck, as a VPN with VST it will be a resource hog. VST alone will consume up to 30% of your resources. So by adding the overhead for SE within the VPN could be a major problem. The VPN part of SE is also why the increased bandwidth is a necessity.

Yes, I agree the information is sparse, but optimizing a computer for audio will help lower the resource hog problems.

There is a way to resolve the SE problem, but I cannot divulge all my secrets.

George,

Yeah they have the model info. No issues with other devices. I guess what fries me is that it worked great prior to installing the new driver.

Frank,

I keep my startup menu clean and watch carefully what I install. Seems like utilizing 50% of the recources shouldn't be a problem. 80-90%, maybe. With due respect, I'm not sure I believe there's an easy fix just floating under my nose that hasn't already been tried. Even the developers themselves are puzzled. By all means, if you have the sure cure and your idea works for me, send an invoice.

My info was sparse because I really wasn't coming here for answers. Just giving a real short version of my experience to keep the board from cluttering. I appreciate your effort to help. If you'd like to read the multiple page long emails that have been sent around between CEntrence, SC, George and me with very detailed info, just let me know.
