Hi, folks!!!!
Mike, here.
I have started navigating the frightening but necessary waters of talent representation. The mere thought of it renders me light-headed.
Those of you with agents - care to send any thoughts my way? I particularly need to know how to approach. I understand they loathe phone calls. Do they want just a demo and cover letter?
Thanks so much!!!!! I'm feeling better already!!!!

Hey Mike,
There are a multitude of threads that can be found in the VO-BB covering this very subject. Just run a search and you'll see.
In my experience, cold-calling an agency is a very bad idea. Do some research first before submitting materials to any agent. If you're looking for representation in the NY/LA area, the Ross Reports are an invaluable tool. Not only does it tell you what to send but exactly who to send it to. If you're looking elsewhere, poke around online and see what you can find. Some agencies have submission guidelines on their website.
Hope that helps! _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

Hey Mike,
This already being sort of a global VO-community by now and all... please add the location in your profile so we know which region/area/continent we're dealing with. Just to make this forum a bit better
With regard to your question, I'd first define what it is you'd want from an agent. Do you want to channel inquiries so you wouldn't have to do the rate negotiating? Do you want key people to generate work for you? That kinda stuff. My personal experiences have not been all that happy, but anyone who can recommend a Dutch agent that actually lands the big contracts for me, please notify me. In return I'll provide a very handsome revenue share per gig, where -if I may add- the euro currency does well these days |
