Amen. A great loss to the creative community was felt this weekend from losing these amazing people along with Bernie Brillstein's passing.

In my radio life I met a lot of comedians, but not one was a better person than Bernie Mac. Godspeed, B Mac...thanks for the honest sharing and the great belly-laughs.

When I saw that Bernie Mac has passed away, I nearly wept.

Dang.

Godspeed to the Chairman, and to Bernie.
Making the angels laugh and dance.

I was just recently rediscovering my love of soul music after a visit to the Stax Museum in Memphis earlier this year. I had many Stax 45s when I was very young but the soul in me was awakened later, and as an adult I have marveled at the racial unity that produced so many great records, a real style all its own. Isaac Hayes was a very large part in that - Most people will know him for either Shaft or Chef, but among some of the factoids I learned at the museum and in the fabulous book "Soulsville USA": Hayes often filled in for Booker T with the MGs when Booker T was away at music school. On other records he joined them for another part, like a 5th MG, such as the cowbell and piano on the great single "Soul-Limbo". Of course he co-wrote with David Porter, some of the greatest Stax hits of all time, including Sam & Dave's "Hold On, I'm a-Comin'" and "Soul Man".

As I was just getting back into this wonderful and groovy music, it really hurt to hear of his passing. This morning on Steve Harvey's radio show they were playing a lot of his hits such as his slow take on "Never Can Say Goodbye"...sheer sultry soul.

RIP.

The passing of both Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes is such a great loss. At least I got to play classic Isaac Hayes on the air today. Clips from "South Park" would have been distasteful, although the character of CHEF was one of my favorites.

RIP

Me too. I loved me some Bernie Mac. So talented.

And Isaac Hayes. South Park, will never be the same.
