Hi!

I have some things listed on one of my websites. I just got a call from the company that hosts this site, on my mobile that they're going out of that aspect of the website biz in three months.

Can anyone recommend a realiable host (and one that's very easy to use) for me to investigate to build the replacement site on (not too expensive, but not free--because I don't want the pages loaded with ads)? Then I'll have to register the domain name as well. I checked the back posts from 2005 and found something called GoDaddy (?).

Anyhow, I've got a couple of months to get the new site together, and the current host said they'll have some recommendations; but, I wondered if you guys could help.

Thanks!

Smile

Stef,
My website is hosted on GoDaddy and I'm very happy with the service. I think the VO-BB is hosted by them as well!

All of my domains are registered with namecheap and most of my hosting is with HostPC. Very satisfied with both in terms of bang for the buck.

GoDaddy is the VO-BB-recommended host and domain registrant.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do NOT receive any bonus from them for folks who sign up on my recommendeation.

They have real, live, English-speaking help on the phone 24 hours a day.

I love 1and1.com. MUCH better control panel and less confusing website than GoDaddy.com, cheaper domain name services, great service. I have several clients hosted there.

I have seen wonderful things about 1and1 in Mac Life Magazine!

It may be a great way to dive in.

Go Daddy can be a bit confusing, but I guess I'm used to it! — although they have a very visually chaotic website.

I, too, am on 1and1 and have been since inception. Good customer service and terrific "up" time.

I'm very happy with them.

I've been thinking about overhauling my website, too. Are there any good web hosts that also have templates?

+1 for 1and1.com. I believe they're based in the UK, so technically they speak English.

I have been very happy with my experiences with Powweb.com, but since they only have one hosting package (which suits my needs perfectly) they may not be right for you. And in the interests of full disclosure, I would only get a spiff for your sign-up if you clicked through the link on my home page at www.bobsouer.com

GoDaddy is great. My site is with Lunarpages, and I'm very happy with them.

Another 1and1 customer here, and have been for a number of years. My site has only been down once, and it was only for a very short time. Their prices are incredible too!

Thanks gang! I'll have a look at both godaddy and 1&1.

I'll check to see which one has a template as well. Or do both of them offer templates?

Cheers!
