I have a possible ISDN session this week..it would be my first.
Just wondering....is there a minimum you charge for ISDN sessions.... and do you charge something along the lines of an "ISDN charge"---I read somewhere that talent sometimes adds a charge of anywhere between $50-$150 just for the use of their ISDN....and I am assuming the client would originate the call, as well....just wondering! Thanks |

If I am required to originate a call, I make a charge of £1 per minute. I don't make any other charge for ISDN, the codec and ISDN lines are there only to facilitate my work, I wouldn't make a separate charge for a mixer or a microphone.
I think most of my clients would freak out if I tried to charge.
Good luck with the session. _________________ www.davidmonteath.com

As long as they're dialing in I wouldn't charge. It's lumped in w/ the cost of doing business. |

same here. if the studio/client initiates the call, i'm only charging for the VO. the rest is cost of doing biz.
i have had one or two studios flat-out say, "we don't pay long distance charges for outside talent". fortunately, i've only had one or two jobs with those places and never had to make a decision over whether it was worth the expense.
i do know brick-and-mortar studios do add an extra hourly charge to their studio rates for use of isdn, but that's not quite the same thing you're asking about. _________________ rowell gormon

I'm with both of the above. I don't charge for ISDN since I don't call out for sessions. In fact, I don't even have a long distance account for my ISDN lines. I also require clients to call in for phone patch sessions. So far, nobody has kicked up a fuss. I've been operating this way for over four years now with no issues. |

Hopefully you would be charging enough for your voice to cover the costs of your business.
That said, I don't think a $1/minute charge is unreasonable if they need you to dial. _________________ Hey! Whaddaya hear?

I know people in the UK that charge $2 per minute if they are dialing to the US. _________________ www.davidmonteath.com

Hi Rob. Congrats on your new ISDN set up and the booking. Definitely always have the client do the dialup. I usually fold the cost of the session into the talent fee. _________________ Bobbin Beam
