Robur Aktiefond Contura.
According to this book, a good investment, but I'm only able to guess at how to pronounce it. No audio/video help to be found either.

LOL
Wow Liz, now help interpret that document!! That does help some. The link to Swedish pronunciation is pretty good. Thanks!
While I was searching, I came across this site. Still in beta, but definite potential for all.

Try calling the Swedish embassy in Washington. It's worked for me with other languages and embassies.
You also might find some help here on the Swedish:

Then again, maybe not.
I always thought the chef's voice was an exaggeration, but then on a trip to the Grand Canyon I heard two 12 year old Swedish girls having a lively teenager type discussion, and they sounded just like the chef, only up a couple of octaves!

Bruce,
Thanks! I always forget about calling an embassy or consulate.
I like it when it's a college professor's name, I just call their phone mail and listen to how they say their own name.
I wonder if the embassy is open on Saturday? _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

This is a best guess, but I suspect its the name of a particular fund, like VIP Fidelity Contrafund. In this case Robur brand Aktiefond active fund Contura contra -- or something like that.
So, my uneducated 2 cents would be RO-bur ACT-ti-fond con-TOUR-ah.
Again, I defer to anyone who truly knows but -- if ya gotta punt, ya gotta punt. _________________ --Michael

Yup... Swedish... and Contura should be the Swedish word for contour.
Now all Scandinavian languages have odd rhythmic structures.
Robur Aktiefond Contura would sound like:
- Roa-boohrr (as in 'road' and 'mooh') emphasis 1st syllable
- uck-tee-fawnd (as in 'yuck', 'tease' and 'pond') emphasis 1st syllable
- kawn-2-rah (1st syllable very short) emphasis on 2nd syllable
One more thing... avoid the English 'r' and use rolling r's instead.
I'll be off annoying some more now |
