Dave,

Have you right clicked the play button for playback options? Or do I not understand what you mean by Auto Scroll?

Hey, Dan-O,

Yeah, maybe it's semantics.

To ME, autoscroll would imply/mean that once you set the wave-form in motion (play) it just keeps on rolling, no matter whether or when the cursor reaches the margins at the right side of the screen.

The program automatically adjusts, and starts rolling the wave form off to the lefterly direction, while the cursor stays NEAR the right margin on the screen.

Ideally, then, when you stop play, it just halts right where you stopped it

-----NOT------

back where you first initiated play.

Whew! That was hard!

....and Jeff.... I'm not sure I can approach your level of masculine appeal...obviously your wife made the right choice!

;-}

Gotcha. After some digging; Frank is correct about the zooming in for the function to work. Here's a quote from the AA help site:

Quote:
Auto Scroll
Enables scrolling of the waveform display in sync with playback. Auto-scrolling only takes affect when you are zoomed in on a portion of a waveform and play past the viewed portion.

This probably doesn't help you much. But, for future VO-BB generations who use the search function, this might come in handy.

I guess I get it right once in a while... (no Snopes needed).

One trick you can do is start from a larger zoomed out waveform, then zoom in closer using your mouse scroll button. When you reach a point where you would like to stop and start from again click your left mouse button to move the cursor to that position. Once you re-start playing the file you will start from where the cursor has been placed.

I do this so automatically when editing in AA it does not register when I have to explain it to someone.

Oh, for your edification, Sony Vegas scrolls from the cursor to the end of the file if you do not stop playing the file. Vegas is not designed as simple as AA, but it works...

Toodles
