I have (and love) my trusty Sony MDR-V6. Supposedly it's the consumer model of the MDR-7506, but having used both, I can't tell any difference other than the red decal on the side of mine as opposed to blue on the 7506. I use them for everything...recording, editing mixing, and even when I'm watching DVDs on my iMac. No complaints here. Especially since they're about $20-$30 cheaper than the 7560. I bought mine here . |

I use two models mainly... when tracking VO I have my Sony Professional MDR-7509 for they have close to no sound bleed. And then there's my Beyer Dynamic DTC770 Pro which I really like... especially when I have to do a provisional mixdown for a song, that is most likely to be played back in a car stereo. |

I used to use 7506's, but 'canned' them because when you drop them only once, parts start flying across the room. Plus the 7509's have all parts available from Sony Professional to order when needed... You break the headrest, you get a new one, I lost a small screw, and the minijack-2-jack adapter... they were sent to me free of charge. Well wordth the investment...
I ordered 5 just so I would never be without one... |

I loved me my Sony MDR-7509...Had mine for years - from the radio days...comfy and great sound. I did find one thing they didn't stand up to though - teenagers. ARg. I work without cans now - ever since I took a workshop with Pat Fraley - and found out how dependent on them I was - plus, way less tendancy to puke without phones. you can take the girl out of radio but.... _________________ Moe Egan

I have Sony MDR-7504's that I've been using for - I don't know - 10? 12 years? Maybe longer. I've never seen them mentioned anywhere.
Anyone know the difference between the 7504's and the 7606's? |

I guess I'm one of those rare folks that isn't impressed with his Sony MDR-7506 headphones. I've had them for just about a year. Too much lower end business...makes things sound boomier than I think they are. I've also got a small short or something in the plug that makes a sparking sound when I move more than a couple of feet away from my headphone amp. It doesn't look like it's home repairable. And they're comfy enough as far as weight, but when it gets warm in here it's like steam bath for the ears.
Other than that...they're spiffy.
Man, I wish we had a pro audio store in the city that had a dozen each of different headphones, mics and preamps that you could mix and match and try out before buying, but no such luck.

Why you whippersnappers! You haven't survived headphones unless you've done six hour shifts wearing Koss Pro 4AAs. Why I remember the time I was interviewing a Presidential candidate and my ears began to bleed! Oh no--it was just the oil leaking out of the ear pads.
Then there was the time the doctor told me my 6th & 7th vertabrae were compressing. My wife solved the problem by insisting I use lighter headphones.
Now in my personal studio, I still use the same V600 I've used for the last 15 years, and in the main studio it's those silly little 7506's.
(Will "ear-buds" make your ears bleed? Or does it depend on your mix?)
Huh? What'd you say? _________________ Wild Willie Edwards
