Using a voice that matches the message you're trying to send with the product... what a novel concept.

Seriously, Lexus does take itself a bit too seriously with their commercials. The other comments about the Jaguar commercials were indicative of someone who merely follows the rest of the sheep (there's a "u" in there, and it is supposed to be pronounced... though the VO is a bit overly stuffy IMO).

And Jaguar is a British brand, so however the Brits decide to pronounce it should be ok.

I like James Sloyan's reads for Lexus.

I also liked him on ST:TNG as the Romulan patsy heh heh.

I am aware that BMW and Lexus, like most large companies with large investments in ad budgets, did extensive testing through focus groups to find the "image" for their brand. Both voices were also tested internationally where practical and thus....no matter where you go--there you are.
Other brands are at this moment looking for their "voice." For sure things are changing. Who knows, maybe someone we know may be the one to convey the right image.

I dunno why commercials don't use more female voices? Male voices don't draw me...a bubbly female voice...
