Just heard about this one today. http://www.enhancedaudio.ie/
Joe Cipriano got one and Bill Ratner's got one on the way. If you are looking for that little extra something to improve the sound of your already well tweaked signal chain, this brings some interesting new ideas to how a mike should be mounted. Haven't used one personally, just passing it along...

Doesn't $307 sound pricey, though?

$225 is a bit better.

Didn't say it was for everyone, and many think it is over priced (see discussion on gearslutz), but if it works...

Yeah, it's the same old discussion...how do we each determine the value of something.

For me, even though I can't imagine spending $5k on a microphone, I can understand how somebody who works magic with such things could engineer and manufacture a mic with such wonderful qualities to justify that price.

This thing, however, is basically a little itty bitty Christmas tree stand, if you think about it, and it's hundreds of dollars.

Eh, no matter, some company will rip off the idea and make a cheaper (and perhaps better) one soon enough anyway Wink

In any event, thanks for posting the link to it, because it's never a bad thing to learn about something new!

Guys, I'm on it.

I'm gonna go by VegasProAudio tomorrow and see about this.

I think the 200 quote was in Euro's. Given the exchange rate these days, that's more than $300 USD.

I'll give it a good once-over if they have one, and report back.

Take a little itty bitty Christmas tree with you!

And then use a cameraphone's video function to capture the audio store guys trying to figure out what the heck you're doing.

Seriously. I'll give you a dollar.

GP (Greg Phelps) from here on the board has been researching this for several months, and it's great if you have a very isolated room with a floating floor - if not, well, maybe we can get GP to post on his opinion.

Greg turned me on to this when it was still in it's infancy.

Do you really think Joe Cipriano paid for his M600???????

Yes, it is a lot pricey... there are several other similar models of this product already on the market and one on eBay is only $29.95 plus shipping.

Toodles

You know, that was my first thought.

Heck, I've been using them on and off for my U47, CMV-563, and Horch for the past year or so.

Is it the end-all, be-all shockmount? I wouldn't say so, but I do prefer the sound when using it on the aforementioned mics as opposed to the standard shockmount. My U87... not so much.

Furthering this thread....

I did NOT get the chance to go by VegasProAudio in the last few days, but I did get a very nice e-mail from their marketing manager.

They were monitoring web-traffic, and it led them to this thread, and an e-mail to me.

VegasProAudio is really just their website front for equipment. They're more a wholesaler, and don't have a retail store as such.

However, he was very gracious in offering me a chance to "borrow" an M600 for a short while, to evaluate it.

He stresses that the cost is $225 USD, not Euros, and he was very clear in saying they did NOT just GIVE one to Joe Cipriano.

I called him and arranged to stop by this week to pick up the loaner...and I also promised to offer a narrative of my experience with the M600 on the VO-BB and my blog.

That's where it stands right now.

Hey! The VO-BB rules!

Price I found was € 149, plus VAT and shipping. To the current exchange rate it would add up to $ 229 (plus VAT & Shipping) as you currently need $ 1.535 to buy 1 euro. And we all know that good old Cip can handle that financially Wink
