I posted pictures of my Poor Woman's Phone Patch in a Gear thread a few years ago here. |

For as infrequently as I do phone patch stuff, I have lately been using the "headset under the headphone" mode. However, I have also used one of these with success. Nice if you need to record both ends (panned onto split tracks via a mixer) to later reference director's comments while editing. I picked one up on eBay a while back for <$20. Nice to have the option. It also makes it easier to playback audio down the line. |

When it comes to remotes, don't leave out the Frontier Labs Tranzport, $199, and wireless. One less wire to deal with, and it runs for months on a set of AA's. What other gear do you have? Are you using a mixer of any kind? This is crucial for proper use of a phone patch/hybrid device. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Many thanks for all the responses. And there's so many choices to choose from. Well, whether I get this job or not (I don't feel chances are in my favor though), I feel it's important to get a phone patch since there's no way I can afford ISDN yet.
Take care everyone!

I'm late to the party, as usual. Great ideas posted here. I bought a Symetrix TI-101 on E-Bay and use it every now and then. They don't seem to have any now, but every now and then will get a few at a time. I think I waited a couple of months between auctions, and then they had four!
It works beautifully and when matched with the Mackie 1202 VLZ mixer. I can take direction in my left ear while recording only my voice to computer. |
