Since moving to Philly and the accompanying one room studio/office, I've begun using my old original Mbox and a Mac Mini for my daily recording. It works just swell, even with the required duck tape holding it together. I also purchased an Mbox 2 Mini for road work. I love the case...much easier to pack than the original Mbox. (How in the world did they ever come up with that cumbersome design of the original Mbox???)
When I first bought the Mbox 2 Mini I A-B'd the two Mboxes, and liked the sound of the original better. After trolling the DUC awhile, it appeared that the general consensus was that the preamps in the newer (smaller) Mbox 2 Mini weren't as good as the original. I just used the Mbox 2 Mini for 3 commercials and a 10 minute narration when I was out of town last weekend, and when I played them back here they sounded pretty good, with the exception of a slightly bouncy room.
