Deirdre:
The spike COULD come through the ISDN phone line, too, so get a unit that protects that as well. Sorry about your electrical headaches! _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I made the mistake of plugging the codec into the wall when I got it back from Telos repair in October.
boo! Look in the mirror and see the dummy. |
I'm seeing the dummy in myself. I'm wall connected right now with my Telos. Is a UPS good enough to stop spikes/surges or should I look into something more serious? Also, can I plug the phone line itself into a conditioner of some sort before connecting it to the box? _________________ Joe Szymanski

i religiously connect ALL of my studio gear (including PCs) into power conditioners/protectors. I have a conditioner that reads the voltage coming out of the wall before it regulates it and MAN that thing fluctuates anywhere from 110-126 volts! Forget spikes, the inconsistency ALONE can't be good for your gear.
PEACE.
