The spike COULD come through the ISDN phone line, too, so get a unit that protects that as well. Sorry about your electrical headaches!

I'm seeing the dummy in myself. I'm wall connected right now with my Telos. Is a UPS good enough to stop spikes/surges or should I look into something more serious? Also, can I plug the phone line itself into a conditioner of some sort before connecting it to the box?

i religiously connect ALL of my studio gear (including PCs) into power conditioners/protectors. I have a conditioner that reads the voltage coming out of the wall before it regulates it and MAN that thing fluctuates anywhere from 110-126 volts! Forget spikes, the inconsistency ALONE can't be good for your gear.

The best is to get a UPS with built in AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) to smooth out those crazy voltage variations provided by the Electric Co. Also has phone line protection. Yes, you can hook your ISDN line through this.
Another important feature is Pure Sine Wave conversion, which means the electricity coming out of the outlets while running on battery is still like "real" AC power, and not "modified sine" like most UPS units or Inverters. Sorry if I am getting too technical here...
