|

I'm getting my holiday cards together and I've decided to send cards to those potential clients I've sent reels to, but haven't actually worked with.
Question: is it impolite to include a business card in the holiday card as a little reminder of my contact information? _________________ Jeff

Thanks for asking the question Jeff....I was planning on sending business cards to the folks in my tickler file...(potential clients I've had contact with but never worked with) - interested in opinions on this. _________________ Moe Egan

If it's potential clients who don't know you yet I guess you need to get your contact info in there somehow, but a standard business card stuck into a nice holiday card might seem a bit cheesy to some. How about inserting a very brief holiday newsletter (on half size paper) with a cute story or two about a VO job you did this year? It will show you as warm or funny and of course your contact info is on the sheet somewhere.
Just a thought,

why not just use your logo (which i assume would have your contact info like a biz card) in the signature part of the greeting card? wouldn't that cover the same thing...other than being the right size for a rolodex? _________________ rowell gormon

I'll probably get 10 lashings, but I'll admit it...
I put my business card inside every one of the gift cards I sent (I taped it on the inside of the gift card envelope, so when they open the gift card envelope at Starbucks they'll be reminded of me) as well as slipped one in the Thanksgiving card itself (the gift card envelope went inside the Thanksgiving card). I didn't put my logo in the card itself. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

This year, I did put my business card inside the card, since the printer left out the spiffy return address I wanted on the backs of the envelopes.
No lashings from me...not really into that. _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

I might be too formal, but I do NOT put my business card in with the holiday card. That said, I do not feel it inappropriate to SIGN the card with "...Merry Christmas from your friends at {my company} Frank, Ann, Steve, Larry, Jill, Greg, etc.", and add the office information at the bottom of the Holiday card. Personal cards do not get the same treatment... they just get my signature -- if they are lucky.
I have all our folks sign the card, it makes it more -- personal.
Do as your heart desires, no one can fault you for following your heart.

I don't mind getting Christmas Cards from businesses that sign "from your friends at...” But it does turn me off if they throw in a business card. I get the feeling that they are using the holiday as an opportunity for advertisement.

so adding a business card is out. I certainly don't want anyone to think the card is simply a marketing campaign (which it is). So I'll simply print my contact info on the outside of the envelope on the back. That way they'll look at it when the open the card. _________________ Jeff

There are many facets to my world Bailey. VO is my favorite.
Jeffery, do as you wish... not as others ARE doing. Does adding your busienss card FEEL right/correct?
The holiday season is a time for sharing something special. celebrate the birth of Christ, and a way to let others know you appreciate them.
I might suggest you follow-up this season with a nice "Thank-you" card to those who send you a Christmas card (send in January) Again, no business card should be inserted or offered with the "Thank-you" note. This is one way of MARKETING without ADVERTISING, and is what makes LoveNotes so important.
Do business when appropriate, you will find it makes things a lot nicer for each party involved.

Oh well, I sure hope this isn't too tacky, because these went out today. I figured since I didn't use my phone numbers and website, it isn't a blatant sales pitch. These went out to current, past and potential clients.

The reason I have put business cards into a holiday card in the past is because of my bad handwriting. I do handwrite a personal note but I put one in.
The reason I don't mind getting a business card in a holiday card is sometimes I can't read the handwriting of the signature.
Some people imprint their logo in the card with everyone's signature which works too.
And remember, some people have assistants or interns who open the mail so you don't necessarily always see the return address.

Don- your card looks really nice. I won't be placing my card into my card, just my name. Altho the brief newsletter sounds kind of good. Man I'd better get to it. I'm LATE!!!!! I haven't even purchased my cards yet!!! _________________ Bobbin Beam
