Taking a page from Banksey, I made notes. Kinda.
Monday
Found and read a new graphic novel online: http://marrymemovie.com/main
Stuff for utility co's call-center system
Finished listening to auditions and making notes for a client out west. Typed notes and emailed them.

Listened to a couple of auditions again, sent "thought it over" notes to the client.
Fixed the color of a word on PF's event page.
Traffic.
Shopping, Supper.
Created a design for a new website with the help of Dieter.
Tuesday

Looked at VO-BB.
Read comics.
Answered volumes of email.
Made calls about billing Paymasters for union jobs.
Wrangled with kid's college fund manager.
Lunch with spouse. Yay!
made travel plans to go to LA for Pat's character day-long thingie.
laundry, laundry laundry.
got tix for Craig Ferguson.
traffic.
Wrestled with hotel choices for LA
Passed out candy to trick-or-treaters. Around here, trick or treat is night before for no apparent reason.
Looked at House, Boston Legal.
More hotel research for the LA trip.

Traffic.

Stacked wood.
Did an over-the-phone coaching session.
Friday
Student
planned update for DeWittHardy.com, took photos of works that weren't scanned.
stacked firewood
Took coats to tailor
Traffic
forgot to write down whatever else I did professionally because we moved the rest of 2 cords of firewood into the barn in anticipation of huge rains from Hurricane Noel.
Saturday, I brought out a 15" CRT monitor and stuck it on the table next to my laptop so I could have more real estate while I cranked on Dieter's website. It certainly makes things easier, but it does take up a lot of space. I still have to finish another build of the new site from Monday, so I'm going to leave it here for a little while longer. I have a great office with a big ol' desk in it, but I get a little claustrophobic or lonely or something. I really prefer sitting at the table when I have lengthy, non-VO projects. It's big enough so Dieter can paint at this table, too.
Life is grand.
Somewhere along the line, Guitar Boy sent me a link to a wild Bollywood dance video that I've had to look at several times, MANY several times because it is just so wild.
This version of it has "what it sounds like" English "lyrics" at the bottom.

Crikey.
We laughed about this goofy thing and sang parts of it last night as we finished stacking the last of the wood in the barn. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I love reading about people's weeks! Thanks for starting this again Deirdre!
For me? Probably not as exciting, but:
Monday- 1st day back after an 8 day vacation...I had a bazillion e-mails and calls to respond to. Eye Dr appointment in the afternoon for my 6th contact fitting in 3 weeks. Finally found a pair that worked (I have wretched eyesight without contacts- so I go through this every year). Got a call from our own Bruce Miles during Dancing With the Stars. We scheduled a session for the following day.
Tuesday- Session with Bruce at noon. It went very well, as he is an absolute pleasure to work with. At the end of the session, he asked if I spoke Spanish, I told him I could read it (fairly well) and we scheduled a session for that afternoon. 1:30 session with Nancy Wolfson (I really love her!) 4pm(ish)- back on the phone with Bruce trying to say 'ahorraras' with mucho conviction. Did I mention how easy Bruce is to work with??
Wednesday- scheduled a session for Friday for Raggs, scheduled a session for this Tuesday to shoot a commercial in Florence, SC for Auddie Brown Mitsubishi. Auditions, auditions, auditions. Went to the store to buy supplies for a baby shower. No go- Halloween was everywhere. Came home, passed out candy while eating most of it myself.
Thursday- Dog to groomer. Auditions, answered several e-mails from potential clients wanting quotes. Scheduled a session for this Wednesday for a CATS radio commercial (Charlotte Area transit). Went for baby shower supplies- Christmas decor everywhere, ugh.
Friday- early session for Raggs live Christmas show. It's hard to be Razzles early in the morning- she's very perky and I can't drink coffee on big recording days. The creator of the show directed the session which always adds a pressure element. Fortunately, she is very sweet. Cleaned and decorated house.
Saturday- 26 women in my house for a baby shower...it went well but wore me out! Afterwards I sat and stared at the wall for several hours and tried to get my brain to function again.
Sunday- Still tired. Wrote a new blog, wrote down ideas for another. Theatre class from 5-7p. I had to fold laundry for several minutes in front of an audience while 'acting' cold. Akward.
Today- I'm enjoying the only day I will have this week where nothing is on the calendar. No auditions, no gigs (yet!). I will probably go to Kohl's and buy a red sweater for the commercial shoot tomorrow as we are filming 2 infomercials- one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas. _________________ Threadjackers local 420

I don't have a day by day breakdown, but a couple of the (hopefully) more productive things:
- met with a guy to build my own website, so as not to be fully independent from my presence at voices and voice123
- ordered my holiday cards and sold a quart of my blood to help pay for the postage. Just kidding...but barely.
- registered for a networking event down in Irvine that would hopefully bring something about. It has been encouraging to read here how just meeting people and giving them your card could have some rather good consequences (I think it was a story from Todd Ellis). _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.
Well, that and mimes.

Monday - One session for GE. Took about 5 minutes and that was work over for the day. The rest of the day was a bit of this, a bit of that and a lot of fresh air with Jazz. Very nice it was too.
Tuesday - 3 corporate sessions and a TV promo session for CNN. Between dog walks managed to do some odd jobs around the house and late in the evening settled down with a Guiness to watch Spooks, a drama about MI5.
Wednesday - Voiced Buyers guides for one of the big electrical retailers, a news piece for an oil company and a staff induction DVD then some very long winded pharmaceutical narration. The latter enabled me to give some work to a female voice. Needed to shop and prepare for the arrival of a visitor, due on Thursday.
Thursday - Sheila the housekeeper/cleaner did her stuff and tried to convince us that Billy, a five year old collie/spaniel cross should come and live with us. Nice idea, but no. A sprinkling of radio ad's, TV promo's and corporates trickled in. Anne went to Aberdeen to collect Alison, what a joy to see her after such a long time. In the evening while the girls caught up I went to Banff to do my bit for theTalking Newspaper for the blind. Late night, lots of talking on my return. Alison has decided to try and smuggle Jazz back home with her
Friday - TV promo's, corporates, buyers guides ...you know the sort of thing. Anne took Alison out exploring. In the evening we went out for a drive around and stopped off at The Gordon Arms in Fochabers for a drink. Slight incident with the Land rover and a tree ......
Saturday - Up early to go to the garage and collect the courtesy car, Mitsubishi Colt. To Elgin for a shopping expedition. Gordon and MacPhails deli provided lunch and the rst of the shop Alison's Christmas presents for her entire family. I felt obliged to buy a bottle of Bruicladdich from the specialist whisky department; it's possible to spend up to $10,000 on a bottle of whisky but I decided that a $100 bottle would do me just fine thank you very much. After lunch we did the coastal trail. Alison could explore and Jazz could charge around like a maniac. Evening meal in a Chinese restaurant. 2am, bedtime.
Sunday - Went to Fraser and Wendy's for a brunch..... They have a new dog!!!
A collie/spaniel cross, 5 years old called Billy.
"Sheila got to you then?"
"Aye!"
Lovely dog, lovely brunch too. I took Alison to the airport and also gave Fraser and Wendy's daughter a lift to University. Aberdeen airport then to Aberdeen city centre to drop "the student", home then fairly early night.
Just thought I'd share ................ |

Philip,
Out of curiosity, is CNN across the pond the same CNN we see here in the states? I guess what I'm asking is will we get the chance to hear your promo? _________________ Joe Szymanski

I work for CNN in Atlanta. Depending on the production my voice will be heard everywhere or just in one region. Most recent work is worldwide so there will be people everywhere shouting at their TVs.

Philip,
I'm sure you're right. I'm equally sure the reason for said shouting will have nothing to do with your contributions to the broadcasts. Thanks for the good laugh this morning, though. _________________ Be well,
