Dave,

Do you use the Mic modeling or comp-limit functions on the H4 and how do you like them?

Any chance of hearing a snippet?

I have been waiting for the H2, but maybe not as many features?

'Still playing with all the features. The H4 simulates the following mics:
Shure SM57, Sennheiser MD-421, Neumann U 87, or AKG 414. So far, I like the Shure the best....but like all other mic discussions, there are many variables, not the least of which are your voice, your surroundings, and the other settings on the H4..

I tend to record with the automatic gain on, but not the compressor/limiter. I also set mic gain switch usually at the center position.

You can also plug-in the H4 directly through your USB and use it as an external mic.... I have not tried that yet.... but just recording remotely, then downloading the file onto my laptop is a breeze.

Very very handy, and hi-quality piece of equipment in my estimation. And anybody considering buying this should NOT have to pay more than $250, even though the list is $499, I think.

I'll try to pony-up a soundfile in the next 24 hrs.

I have just been sent the MICPORTPRO to evaluate. nice looking and 24/96 capability, instead of 16/48 as defined by the MXL MicMate. I will evaluate each early next week and let you know the results.

The MXL is priced better, but has limitations, the MicPortPro offers more control AND a headphone port (3.5 mm). So we will see...

So far the MicPortPro is leading just on looks alone, but as they say (whoever "they" are?); "the proof is in the pudding".

Hi everyone - sorry i've been inactive..

Just got spam from Apple - and noticed this little item:

Has balanced XLR inputs to feed a Mac. Bet the Apogee quality is really good. Wondering if anyone else knows anything about this..

I'm looking for a small portable rig to for traveling. The MicPort Pro so far is the most appealing thing I've seen , but this Duet is about as big as an iPod..

I understand the Apogee Duet is the replacement for the Apogee Mini Me, which is an excellant unit. It seems the production cost were just too high to make a profit on something that worked so well.
Duet is getting great reviews so far. Let us know what you try.

Just thought I'd revive this thread for a minute. When I was at Long and McQuade's (where I get all my audio equipment in Toronto) on Saturday, they told me they can't keep the Zoom H2 and H4 in stock. They are out the door as soon as they get them in.

The Apogee Duet is cute, but at $495.00 I would bet I can find a much "cuter" toy to play with.

The Apogee Duet is a bit pricey in my humble opinion.
