Many of you may have read posts from, and worked with one of our members JayJ (Jay Glass).
Yesterday, I kept having this urge to call him and chat, but I resisted the urge. I called today and spoke with his wife Leneta. She informed that Jay had passed away Sunday morning.
My prayers are with Leneta. Please send yours as well.
Both became good friends over the past year or two and he will be missed. Toys-For-Tots was one of Jays favorite charities as he did not have a lot of toys as a child. This charity is offering a special day in their home town in memory of Jay. Please share where you are able - in his name.
Our mortality comes to mind when you hear this news about a fellow VO Artist and friend.
My personal thanks are given now to all of you for your thoughts, help, and friendship. Wish those you love a special gift of love everyday as we do not how much time any of have left here on this earth.

My condolences, Frank.
And thanks for the thoughtful reminder. I think I'll call my sister right now.

Oh man. I am now deeply saddened. Jay and I had developed a friendship from meeting on this board after he sent me an email. We emailed back and forth several times about VO and life in general and spoke on the phone a time or two as well.
My prayers and thoughts go out to Leneta and family. I will donate some toys this year in Jay's honor and memory.
Thank you for letting us know Frank. Jay will surely be missed. _________________ Ben

I talked to Jay a few times myself. I couldn't say we developed a friendship, but like so many of you here on the board, it was easy to sense how easily he made friends and how genuinely nice he was. Thanks Jay for spending time with us. |

My deepest condolences to Jays wife and family.
With a registered membership of over 500 voice over enthusiast, there are many on board whom we may never meet or hear from directly. I'm sorry to say that for the most part I don't even recognize most of the newer names of those who have joined.
I now see that even though Jay wasn't a bulletin board "junkie"... like some of us... his contributions may have been few, but they were very constructive. And I'm even hearing now that he contacted a few members via email.
According to the records, Jay only made 8 posts. I was able to find 7 of them... the 8th was probably lost in the shuffle... or perhaps it was contained in his last post of January 16th, 2007. The last 4 words that he typed in the post of that date... "God help us all". Most of the request I have seen on this board were requests for help... with our vocals, our equipment, clients, work... you name it. Any many of those requests have been filled. For some strange reason... I feel that Jay was reminding us that God is also there to help us. God help us all.
Here are Jay's 7 posts:

Just a little background:
Jay was a busy man, programming not one, but two radio stations in two separate markets some 90+ miles apart.
He and Leneta have been married more than 20 years, Leneta is the mid-day personality at WITL in Lansing, MI. Jay was and (on-tape) morning guy.
Jay was a very kind man, and full of life, he exuded the type of personality I wish I possessed. His contributions are evidenced by the community of South Lansing where many people are already pitching in to offer their condolences for his gentle spirit.
This dynamic duo had a unique gift which shall go on in their city with Leneta driving Jay's legacy.
Jay was a gentleman I admired.

I had the great pleasure of doing some imaging stuff for Jay J's WITL.
He was enthusiastic and honest and creative. A nice batch of attributes in today's radio world.

My condolences as well, Frank. I didn't know Jay J. But I still feel a sense of loss when a member of our group passes on. _________________ www.voiceoverdrew.com

I echo what Drew said, I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him, but I am also sad when a member of our group passes on.
Please let his wife know that our corner of cyber-space sends good vibes her way.

The name isn't familiar, but that doesn't make the pain any less real. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. _________________ Justin S. Barrett
