On Saturday evening my headphone amp gave up after over 342 years of loyal service. I managed a short term cheat which involved inserting a positive charged (400ohms) negativiser into a fairly tall multi coloured haired FVO from Fochabers while she held a loud speaker and a copy of the Press and Journal to get me through Monday and this morning. Sort of worked but the whimpering was really annoying.

While sitting outside munching my luncheon (kippers) a courier arrived with two packages. 2 pairs of Beyer DT100s and a GT4x4SUV turbo diesel convertible headphone amp. I love it because, for the techies it has up downing +/-4db neutral overallness in the lower high end sector or for the Philip Banks' of this world, green, amber and red lights flash .... Very pretty.

After all that and you never bothered with a whimper mute? Or in Philip Banks speak....a green, amber, and red argyle sock.

Those Beyers also give some serious Left-Right Channel Outwardness with a touch of sizzle in the high, upper lows. Enjoy your new monitor muffs Philip!

Plural? Oh surely not ......

One flashiating is quite enough!

Notice that there are no red lights flashiating because in the words of Ali McGraw "Red is never having to say you're sorry".

Philip,

I didn't know that Charles II invented the headphone amp. Fascinating!

"Your majesty, what manner of contraption meets my gaze?"

"My lord, 'tis in the amplification of the headphones in which it makes its business. Of this Cromwell knows nought. Pray let it be know abroad that such is the way that affairs shall remain"

"All right beardie, don't lose your head over it."

There followed much mirth

Amy,

My thoughts exactly! Sorry, Philip (You, too, David). I'd rather eat my $19 shoes.
