craigslist--a never-ending source of funnies!

Im looking for someone to do a voice over job in mandarin. So you must be a native mandarin speaker. You come in say a couple lines and thats it. We cant pay because this is a no budget movie. but you will get credits etc. no experience necessary...i mean you are just reading 2 lines.

edit: omg that's my 1000th post. snark lives.

I neglected to mention that I sent the poster a note.
This morning I got a reply.
Sharing with all you big shots:

I wrote:

professional voiceover artists don't work for free.

2 lines or 20 lines doesn't matter. you pay for talent and time.

so if you want the quality from someone who'll do it for free ... you'll
get that kind of "quality."

good luck.

thanks note appreciated..but not everyone has a budget like you "big" shots.
the day you can tell "good" mandarin from "bad" mandarin...i suppose Ill
agree with you. This film has been done virtually with no budget. and there
are people that want to build resumes such as myself back when i was trying
to act and model...wait so why did you respond to my posting?

There was another one on Craigslist the other day where they were looking for someone to do a voiceover for a Hip Hop mixtape.

Quote:
IMPORTANT: IF YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF DOING-EVEN IF YOU ARE A VOICE OVER ARTIST, PLEASE DO NOT WASTE OUR TIME. TIME = MONEY!

Compensation for the voice artist?

Compensation: no pay

I was tempted to reply but thought why bother wasting the bandwidth.

So... A "big" shot is someone who gets paid for working... what's wrong with that?

Craigslist! Better than a night at the Improv!

When I read the line "i mean you are just reading 2 lines" I imagine the guy saying "Sheesh." As if we're totally putting him out by even reading the ad.

Personally? It's taking all my self control to not record the audition in my best Mandarin and get all my buddies to do the same...

I think it would be worth it to at least point out the irony of them asking someone to waste THEIR time (which, as we learned, equals MONEY) voicing a...

...hip-hop MIX TAPE?? That sounds like something one would do for friends only...

How about this one:

Quote:
We are looking for a phone actress to record our office line message in a professional manner.

Please call our number, xxx-xxx-xxxx, and leave your test message on our voice mail. If we choose your voice message to be our office line greeting, we'll pay you ten bucks.

I am so tempted to call and describe their company to them.
