Can I bother you guys for one more question please.
I am in LA and am finally going to get an ISDN line.
I need to get a NT-1 modem.
Does any modem work more reliably than another?
I saw quite a few on ebay - is that the best place to get one?
Also if anyone has any advice in getting an ISDN line in LA that would be great too.
Many Thanks (again!!)

Tom,
I'm using the Eicon Diva Pro PCI ISDN card with my AudioTX ISDN set-up without a problem. You'll find details about several good ISDN cards at the AudioTX site here:
http://www.audiotx.com/sound_isdn_hw.html
You'll need to scroll down a bit to find the ISDN cards as the audio cards are toward the top of the page. The one advantage of the Eicon Diva Pro PCI is that it includes the NT-1 interface on the card. No need to get it as a separate unit. It does need to be installed into an available PCI slot in your computer, though. Updated drivers were available on Eicon's site, and were quite easy to install as I recall.
I hope this helps. _________________ Be well,

Don't the newer Telos Zephyrs and Musicam Primas have internal NT-1's? My Zephyr is about 14 years old, with an external NT-1 that came with the unit. Sorry, I'm away from home this week, and my memory's a little foggy on this one...

I've got a Zephyr 9202 and it just plugs in to the ISDN wall jack. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Thanks everyone.
Thats all great info.
I am going to give the Audio TX a shot, since its so much cheaper than buying a stand alone unit.
I have ordered an ISDN PCI card, so I'll give that a shot first and see if it works. It says on the Audio tx site you need an external NT1 but if Bob's works just direct to the line then I'll give that a go first.
Thanks for all the advice

Here's a part of an E-mail I pulled from my personal archive. It provides a little info that may be useful.
Quote: | Here's a link to the NT-1 Terminal Adapter I bought. It was cheapest from CDW (found nothing less expensive anywhere):
http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=066005
The ISDN card from AudioTX may have an S/T interface. Basically, the Eicon Terminal Adapter ("TA") provides the converstion to the S/T interface (it's a plug converter of sorts). The United States standard is 2U (two u , meaning two circuits (2) are sent through one (1) pair of wires. In Europe the S/T interface has one (1) circuit through each pair (2) of wires (I believe)).
There are a couple of things to think through. First, the NT-1 standard is what's used in the U.S. It's different from the NI-1, which is the switch used by the Telco. 5ESS is another type of switch but everything should play NI-1. |
Good luck. _________________ Charlie |
