I would like input into your ideas on the best moderately priced sytem components, if anyone has any input on their favorite tech items, or system programs let me know that too. I want to make a good investment. The computer I am working on is 11 years old and is a P.O.C. with Sybil tendencies.
The information I was given at the conference in Vegas has been helpful, but I want to knowif there has been newer gear made that would be beneficial. I have a closet I am converting. Dell is who I my husband can get a computer through with a $2500 limit. We need everything. I've saved for sometime so help me out with your best stuff stories, or advice.

Welcome!
Can you fill us all in on the advice given in Vegas?...unless the "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" rule applies. 
The Search feature of the forum is great for researching questions about "hands on" equipment reviews and opinions. For instance, Help For A Noob asks about an initial setup.
Entry Level Recording Gear Possibilities has a system that BSW put together. And Beginners Studio Setup has more ideas.
Also, Voices For A Change Gear will list equipment used on a VO spot that many of us participated in doing. There is a common thread there on mics and chains. |

Hey Heather,
Yep. check the archives
...one quick piece of advice:
If you are going PC make sure you stay away from Vista for now. Try & get an XP machine.
Vista apparently doesn't play nice with audio quite yet....but of course someone else from the board may completely disagree!
....they'd be wrong, but they can try!

Liz is SOOOOOOO right. (Personal opinion) However, more and more sound cards are becoming Vista compliant. It's just the software doesn't play nice... yet.
