Hey Guys,

I just finished writing, voicing and producing a spot for Google Audio Ads and wondered if anyone else is familiar with their program? I would like to get listed in their talent directory so potential clients can find me, but my searches thus far have been fruitless.

Any ideas?

I "auditioned" by writing and producing a spot for them, advertising their "quick checkout" feature. They provided TOO MANY "must have" copypoints and wanted a :30 creative. Got back a "thanks but no thanks" reply a few weeks later that was a bit insulting.

Another guy I know who also went through the process received the same rejection reply (so it wasn't just ME).

Another aspect was the quote. What would YOU charge Google for a one-year buyout on a :30 or :60 spot? I talked to a few peers and the range I got was anywhere from $150 to $30,000. (!!!!) Hey, it's Google, after all.

Dig deep into Googles website and you'll find that they tell prospective clients looking for production that the cost to them will be between $100-$1000 for a fully produced spot, plus other interesting points.

Can you tell me where you found the information to audition? This ad I produced was for a client and not for Google themselves.

I've been on the Google Marketplace list for a few months and the bid requests are just starting to come in. I've been turned down a few times and I've turned down a handful myself because I've been busy or the products or services were a bit odd. You're not missing much at the moment as they get this off the ground, but maybe later it'll be a big deal.
