...as an actor (or director), consider the set of I Heart Huckabees
CAUTION: It's an interesting commentary on the tension on the set, and the language in the video clips is definitely not for the faint of heart (or ear).
Here it is
And Deebs, if you think this shouldn't even be posted, feel free to dump the thread as you see fit. I just found it interesting. |

One thing that really struck me was how suddenly very real they all seemed to me.
Isabelle, seemingly oblivious, starts obsessing about her own personal chin and asks quietly for "Felicia" (presumably someone from make-u .
Dustin displays real patience, class, empathy, and a spirit of collaboration. I'm always impressed with him as a human being.
Lily is fed up with bad and inconsistent direction and displays, among other things, fear. Fear that the movie will suck. Fear that bad direction will make her performance suck.

Well put Amy. That's exactly what I was thinking. I always try to think of celebs as just ordinary people, because they really are. But sometimes it is easy to forget that and stuff like this brings it all back to earth. |

I saw part of it at work, but had to wait until tonight to see the whole thing. Now it's gone. _________________ Greg Littlefield

Did anyone else catch Dustin Hoffman last year on Inside the Actors Studio? He lived up to the description above and more. It was the first time EVAR I started taking notes from one of the guests. Most times, Will Smith comes to mind, it is a complete ego trip and a flashback on the career of "fill in the blank" and an utter waste of time, as far as learning something about the art of acting. But, Hoffman held class with the students. Breaking down how each character materialized in his mind from the training he had in his youth and from his professional experiences. It is a must see.
(EDIT) I found the first of ten parts of this interview here.

I don't want to be too negative, but I really don't see what Will Smith has to be egotistical about. He's done nothing that I've seen that warrants it. |

I happen to think Will Smith is a brilliant film comedian and I see every movie he makes.
Except that damned CG fish flick. You can't pay me to look at Dreamworks cartoons. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Well I knew that there are a lot of people who like him or he wouldn't be getting all that money.
I guess it is just a matter of taste. I have it and you don't. |

I really liked Antz and Paulie, although I know Paulie's technically not a cartoon. But it did have a fake bird with a cartoony voice. _________________ Lou Zucaro
