I was a simultaneous interpreter on and off for 10 years (English/French) @ trade shows, business meetings & conferences.... In fact it was only job that every member of my family (Dad, Mom, 2 bros & me) did at one point or another in our careers.
It was a cool job, but after a while you feel like a parrot...always speaking someone else's words....Oh wait....kinda like VO!
You went to best restaurants....but you never ate...one guy talks while the other guy is eating - you talk; Then the other guy talks while the first guy eats...and you still talk!....
...although the time I was interpreting for 2 guys that were getting progressively drunker and drunker was pretty funny!
Sorry for the ramble...just brought back a lot of memories!
And as to HOW you do it...it's weird... after a while it's like it bypasses your brain...the words go in your ears & out your mouth without really thinking about it...strange but true!
