No excuse for how the person on the other side of the glass behaved, but I covered that. Now rightly or wrongly Shatner has a reputation for being difficult
That said, my understanding from friends on the set was that he was actually incredibly easy to work with when filming a 15 eps. series called "A Twist in the Tale" down in NZ a few years back.
Having seen the series, I think it's one of his best works.
FWIW: anyone ever hear Nimoy's sound check for Omnitheatre a few years back? Absolutely hillarious. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I'm probably just thick and missed the point completely, but far be it for me to let you off the hook if you're making fun of us Canadian's 'eh! _________________ Brian Forrester Voice Overs

LOL! Where he starts asking, "Who put the bop, in the bop she-bop she-bop?"
Priceless!
I love the one with Orson Welles where he picks a fight with the engineer because he screwed the line and refused to believe it. |

"take offense"?!? Brian, please! After all we've been through. . .
Did you hear the track where Shatner pronounced the word "sabotage" with two short "A"s? That's what I'm referring to, mate! _________________ DBCooperVO.com

The director's gaffe isn't that he dared to direct Shatner, it's that he had no idea how to communicate what he wanted.
Example: the rap against George Lucas by his actors --- admittedly more in the vein of good-natured ribbing than castigation --- is that his direction consists chiefly of the phrases "faster" and "more intense". The actor is then left to his own devices to figure out how fast, how much more intense, what kind of intensity, etc.
Same thing here, except that even Lucas has more sense than to act it out himself as a demonstration.
P.S. And now that we've crashed the worlds of Star Trek and Star Wars into one another, I give you this:
