I agree with taking a stand. Even as a copywriter I've taken a stand and said ... "Hey, I'm not writing this." But generally I have the law on my side too!

Isn't there a law on Political Advertising where you are? When I lived in the UK we were just not allowed to do it! Other stuff that was sensitive I had to get cleared by a central body. The RACC.

It's good to know when VOs have moral issues... but generally not as the session is about to start! A VO friend of mine is a Quaker an wont have anything to do with Military. So no ads about war museums, military parades etc etc. We know where he stands. Does he still get work? Yes, 'cos he's a great Voice Over.

I just wanted to put the writer/producers perspective on the thread.

Should I formally introduce myself?

Hello, I'm Simon. Brit. Currently living in Kenya and freelancing for UK clients and trying to get our Kenyan Business off the ground.

Hey Simon - warning - threadjack here - my nephew is working in Nairobi. He's a journalist at the Nation.

Yes, the fact that we can't do political advertising in UK radio or tv robs us of a whole rich seam of material. We all know the other guy's a shyster, we just can't buy airtime to say so!

And hello Simon, by the way. Wink

apparently, word of the vociferous nature regarding our sports fans has become such a cliche' that a good majority of the political ads done in the country are farmed out of Philly.

While I welcome the business, I'm not such a fan of the reputation, lol.
