First off, I do Voice 123 and Voices, and I've gotten a bunch of stuff I've auditioned for on 123 (depends on HOW you work this site--discussed ad nauseum in other posts) but from Voices, I've NEVER gotten an audition...only private leads...and there have been several of those...
Hey, I'm all for a site that "prohibits" the $10 bidders out there...How I think it would work best is to AUDITION YOUR TALENT AND MAKE THEM SIGN A CONTRACT NOT TO WORK BELOW "X" AMOUNT SCALE FOR CERTAIN TYPES OF JOBS...or you could not allow clients to post jobs for less than a certain amount of money... The problem of course, is those clients could always go to other sites, but the key could be the marketing. Without getting into a libel suit, you could allude to the idea that you get what you pay for and have some "anecdotes" of clients who were screwed over by talent with crappy studios, no clue, no experience, etc... market your site as the "gold standard" where there are only quality pros... Word of mouth could build you up to compete with the "let the guy with the Playskool Mr. Microphone sites apply" sites. Good luck!!!!! |

Bailey,
The website acts as the agent and distributes payments.
Your next question about how the business will profit is a closed subject at this time. All will be revealed soon.
You must be looking over my shoulder. LOL Yes just as an agency, if a talent does not book a job in a pre determined amount of time, they are dropped. Having not invested any money to join, they loose nothing except exposure. Talents must audition again before rejoining the world class database.
Did I answer most of your questions? |
Yes... and the business question... being a closed subject... is understandable.
And yes... I do look over shoulders... when I realize that a way must be provided to keep the "voice pool" profitable, and to keep high quality standards for the website.

It's difficult to avoid low paying projects unless you set the bar high from the beginning . V123 tried to combat this by publishing "suggested rates" and hoping clients would follow the new template.
Now we're left with the same low paying listings but with a disclaimer that "We're aware the rate low... please don't audition if the rate is too low for you."
I'm interested to see how your site handles this... |

Jeffrey..
Hang in there my vo friend! One month is not long enough to test the waters. I'd suggest at least 90 days. I've been with 123 and voices.com for several years and find them to be an excellent investment. They have both paid for themselves several times over.
My only suggestion might be to be sure to answer auditions early. With literally thousands ov voices getting those auditions, I suspect the client gets pretty bleary eyed by the 100th audition! Even though the posted deadline may be weeks away, I always try to get that audition back to them asap! Don't be discouraged! I've listened to some of your demos on your site. You have a good thing goin there!

Dave... All things being said and considered...
Stay the course... Develop your idea to its fullest... And remember that failure is not an option. _________________ "Bailey"
