That's hilarious! Although that may result in a "misunderstanding."

I just saw the "perp walk" and the interview afterwards, not to mention some of the pics.

These guys truly think that this is a big joke. Nothing personal, but if they want to be a pair of smart asses with LEOs (which I understand they were) and the incident, then I'm not going to shed too many tears if they end up with some jail time.

Sadly, they'll probably be regailed as heroes.

To that end, Adult Swim put up a rather detailed and forthright apology for the incident last night. Knowing the usual behavior of those guys, it's good to see they at least understand why this is a big issue.

For the uninitiated:

LEO stands for Law Enforcement Officer.

They were assholes at their "press conference"—wouldn't talk about anything but '70s hair styles.

I was a defender of their part until that little stuntlet.

Stick 'em in the pillories on the Boston common.

Two takes from this comment:

1) The funniest part of the event occurred when a reporter asked how the one with dreads would feel when they cut them off after he went to jail.

2) The fact that their own lawyer had to shout over them (after repeatedly stating that they had no comment) to simply shut up.

And I'll try to keep off the alphabet soup DB Sticking out Tongue

Buy your very own piece of the stupidity on Ebay

One of the offending "devices" was listed at $5000 yesterday. Guess nobody was bidding so he lowered the price.

Turner is one of my regular clients, and I'm there every thursday to record Turner Classic Movies. Needless to say, it was a bit'electric' there yesterday with all of the publicity. As it turns out, all of the news reports may have given Cartoon Network more positive publicity than the stunts themselves.

Ignoring their idiotic press conference, which is very hard to ignore, I think some folks at Boston Hobo Laughing need to take a pill and calm down just a tad (sorry Dcool. The things were up for three whole weeks and seen by how many thousands and ignored or enjoyed?!! They were all up for two to three weeks in other major cities, and no one panicked there either. And one quick look at it and you could tell there was no room for any explosives on the thing.

Yes it was stupid to not advise someone, but then if they'd advised someone at the city they couldn't have done it in the first place for all the permits and permissions they'd need.

I don't know what the specific ordinances in Boston, but that statement is not necessarily true. Only in SF have I ever had to get a permit to do similar actions with electronic equipment. Once it was explained, there was no issue with the placement of the devices.

From what I've gotten so far, someone called it in as a "suspicious device". Once that, or other key terms are used, OPSEC rules are quite clear in that, even after an initial investigation, all devices are to be treated as though potentionally explosive devices, even when it's obvious that it is not.

A lot of people are screaming about over-reaction. The actual response for this incident is that since the proper protocols hadn't been obeyed (even a street performance artist needs to inform the locals about what he/she/it is up to at times), LEOs, FLEOs and local FDPs had to knowingly waste their time looking for and removing a bunch of lite brights.

Of course if you really want to scare the poop out of somebody, download this file:

http://www.thecleverest.com/countdown.swf

put it on your laptop and run it so that people sitting next to you can see it. Just don't try it while sitting next to an Air Marshall on a plane.

Sheeeezz.

You know, all the bitching about "over-reaction" is just a bit rich for me.

People would be screaming for blood if something REAL had blown up somewhere.

The PLANES took OFF from BOSTON on 9/11.
If we're a bit skittsh, so be it.
Vandalism gone bad, Turner pays.
Assholes.
