Well I got a lovely parking ticket the other day while at an audition in NYC (despite reading the signs about a million times!). Do you think that is a legit deduction?
*EDIT*...Man...Where is my brain today...Can someone please move this to the CHAT forum?...Thanks! _________________ Tony Impieri

With the price of parking in NYC, it's probably no more than a legitimate parking space, which is deductible. As long as you pay the ticket, I'd say go for it*.

I really doubt a ticket qualifies as a legitimate business expense.
Ask your accountant when the time comes, but be prepared to eat it. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Ouch, I feel your pain but I don't think parking fines are allowed as a cost of doing business.
The usual parking fine is $115 if you not towed you add another $100 for that.
Thats why I take public transportation. The last time I was towed and I had to find my car at the impound garage on the waterfront I paid about the same as the price of the car an ole "Ford Falcon".
I just love the Big Apple.

Somehow or other I don't think expenses incurred by breaking the law would be deductible _________________ Elaine

Ahh...but that WOULD open up ALL sorts of possibilities now...wouldn't it?
I honestly didn't think that it would be deductible...I was just humouring myself by running it past you guys. Normally, I either take the train in or use a garage depending on my schedule. That particular day (on the way to the garage) I decided to park on the street because I saw a spot open up that looked too good to be true...and it turned out that it was. Although the sign was somewhat misleading. I thought I had seen them all as I had (in a former life) lived in the city and did the alternate side parking shuffle for a number of years...Even the old regulations in my old neighborhood have changed...the only thing constant is change...about $115 in change! _________________ Tony Impieri
