I've been asked this question many times as well and always find myself stumped for an answer.

Maybe we could take the route our own PB uses in his "online resume." With his example in mind...I'm thinking of something like...

Unusual
Reckless
Old Fashioned

The problem with descriptors like these is that they have about as much impact as an ad that touts a "helpful, friendly staff" or "plenty of free parking".

Everyone is "professional".
Everyone is "engaging".

If you MUST provide single-word descriptors, make them pop! ~otherwise you're pocket-lint.

Stentorian
Chromatic
Thrifty

Any time I see the need for a list of 3 things, I always remember the SNL with Tom Brady where they did a "film" on sexual harrasment in the work place and how to avoid it.

1. Be handsome
2. Be attractive
3. Don't be unattractive

Sadly, I find that everyone is not...

but that's another story for another time.

Point taken though.

Oddly, I've never been asked this question before.

Does this testimonial grab you? A few years ago a group of teenagers were forming a band. Jo wanted to learn to play the bass. Phil, a sax and flute player in our jazz and blues band suggested she and the other band members approach me (strength in numbers).

"We're not asking him anything he's scary!"

A few years later it was the debut performance of another happy band of teenagers. Jon our sax player said we should go along to give moral support. The bass player was Becky, the bass player was supposed to be Becky. The bass player after a short delay WAS Becky.

"I can't play while he's here". I was invited to leave, for the sake of art I agreed.

On reflection my words should be -
Scary
Intimidating
A**hole
