| I am brainstorming on how to set up my space for voiceover with a standalone booth, and debating whether or not to try making a DIY booth or buying a studiobricks or something similar. The issue I am having with the DIY booth is there is so much information out there about how to do it and it seems kind of daunting to try to do one version or another only to arrive at the finished product not being perfect. My goal is to have a space I can step into at any time of day and be able to record professional quality audio without effects (ie low enough noise floor and no worries about ambient noise at any time of day). Does anybody know if there are one or two best blueprints or schematics for a DIY voiceover booth that really gets the job done and holds up over time? I don't want to spend more than I need, but am willing to spend what is necessary to get the setup. If it's too wobbly an endeavor I may just hire George Whittam or buy a studiobricks for peace of mind. |

There are a lot of factors at play. The space where the booth will go (how loud is is ambiently, are people walking above you? is there HVAC nearby), standing/sitting, do you do a lot of long form work and editing (eg audio books), is it semi-permanent or is it an apartment situation where you will likely move it a few times ...
I have heard good things about the PVC pipe & drape design for relatively temporary set ups. I have the luxury of treating a small room in my house and MUCH prefer that option. (knowing that is not possible for everyone)
So, yeah ... lots to think about. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis
