The music for this was broadcast via FM-- the neighbors didn't have to deal with the sound of the music, just the 10,000 cars per day that came down their road after this hit the net!

There is a similar thing in the Toronto area. The guy here has a donation box outside the front of his house collecting money for the local hospital.
