Hi all and Seasons Greetings!

I need to come up with a quick quote for a half-dozen :15 "spots"
which I learned subsequent to the session, would be used for
national podcasting application... These web ads apparently run
when one clicks for a weather forecast on Weather.Com - so
technically, they are "national" but internet-only.

Normally the studio I did this for has a rate already determined with
their client, but in this case, they didn't work it out in advance and
are asking me for my input. I don't have a Podcasting Rate, per se,
so if anyone does, or can give me a ballpark on a fair rate that would
reflect this end-usage (let's say, it's at least one 13-week cycle since
it's a seasonal/winter tourism promotion) - i'd GREATLY appreciate any
ideas on starting point to help quote this out before Thursday afternoon
rollls around.. Thanks as always for any insights! Much appreciated!

Mike

If I were your agent I'd try to get you something close to the national network 13-week rate, like $1,200.00 per spot, with lines like, "I want youse to take care of my boy Mikey here, ait?".

But as I'm not your agent, and even though it's the Weather guys, it's fairly limited distribution in a podcast I'd guess, so I'd shoot for $1,200 for all 6 and see who salutes.

Anyone else with a number?

Hey Bruce, we're on the same wavelength...that's where i was ballparking it this morning after some reflection and considering unit pricing on some
national short-run dealer tag rates I've done.. but using the reference
you put forth makes good sense. Thanks for the perspective!

Given the nature of Podcasting, isn't every podcast "national?" Or, even international? Smile

I remember in 2000 our oldies station was the top listening choice in Shoutcast. I'd be on the air and I'd get a call from Australia or the UK requesting a song. Management didn't see any value in selling air time for it. Shame. Nowdays everyone has a podcast...even me. LOL
