I have a client that needs a demo from me that specifies in his email that I pronounce "garidge" as it looks, not how people in the USA say it.
So, my first take on the word would be to put a GA sound at the beginning of the word RIDGE, such as a narrow ledge of a hill is pronounced.

How are Brits saying it?

Nicely put, Amy.

The word is spelt GARAGE.
We say guh-RAHZH.

Brits say GAIR-idge.

English RP (received pronunciation) Ga - as is Gab
Rage - as is raj or French
fromage

Equal stress on both syllables. Ridge is equally acceptable.

SOME Brits say GAIR-idge.

I blame Elton John.
