I am confused for which pair of monitoring speakers to buy.
I will use it for voice over only and no music at all.
does 4 or 5 inches is enough?
I've found many brands! _________________ MG! |

I've used the KRK VXT4s for the past 3 years and they have worked just fine for me. I remember George saying there were some new one, can remember the name right now, that were supposed to be a stellar deal. I looked into them and they were all sold out at the time. |

Found them...they are the Equator D5s and they have the redesigned version in stock now. $500 for a pair. The VXT4s are $600 a pair. There are definitely threads discussing this very subject in much depth. Just search for "monitor" and then check the title. |

Many of us use M-Audio BX5 speakers. The appear to be widely available for $150 each, or $300 a pair.

I've had the same now for six years. Love them. Also have the Sub. People who come into my studio can't believe the sound that comes out of such a compact speaker.
I use them for editing and when I'm not editing and just doing busy work, they rock music just as well. _________________ Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the Paramedics

I am afraid that I did not found such brands in local markets except this model:
Presonus Eris 4.5 for 200 usd
All others will be shipped from usa to egypt.
so shall i get it or the yamaha or krk is better?
thanks and sorry for newbie question. _________________ MG! |

Massdrop has the M-Audio M3-6 for $209 per speaker right now. They seem to be pretty popular. I have no experience with M-Audio speakers, but they do make a pretty solid keyboard. I have the Axiom 49 MIDI controller, and it's well built. _________________ "The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve." - Buddha

Fostex 6301. You use to be able to find they used everywhere.
You may want to call or visit a commercial radio station in your area and buy whatever they use through them - they seem to get everything. _________________ Genus |

Allow me to make your choice even more complicated: I had the worst time with the self-noise hum of every single monitor I tried except for the ones I ended up buying: Adam F5's. A tad more expensive than most, but worth it in my books. _________________ Andrew Fogarasi

I moved to JBL308's 2 years ago. For most voiceover only scenarios, a 5" monitor is fine, heck lots of folks only use headphones...most people will listen to you on a radio, computer, phone or TV anyway, but to better get an idea of the full spectrum of my sound I've found the larger 8" works best - and for the obvious reasons when adding any music etc. in production work, they are a must. The price is extremely good for these particular ones as well. I previously used Yamaha HS50. _________________ Brian Haymond

I'll be acquiring some new monitors myself eventually. For me, I also do music stuff as well, so finding a solid monitor that'll be great for spoken word AND music would be ideal.
I haven't played with my new analog synthesizer as much as I'd like. Yeah, I'm that annoying guy making bloops and bleeps with his mono synth, swapping jumper patch cables lol. _________________ "The wise ones fashioned speech with their thought, sifting it as grain is sifted through a sieve." - Buddha

If you are using it for VO monitoring only then why buy two? Save some $$ and just buy one.
Take a look at a the Avantone Mix Cube. They make both active and passive. |

wow. simple yet brilliant…
There might be a few old farts around these parts that can remember listening to a single mono speaker in a car…. in the '60s.. the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys, all the Motown, etc.. It was probably stereo summed..but the point is...
we, at least I... never thought a damn thing of it... _________________ Lee Kanne
