Kinda of off topic, but has anyone had this happen? a mic just stop working?

I have an EV ND308 mic that I used for a while. Love the sound it gave me on the sax. I put it on the shelf for a while. I picked it up the other day, plugged it in and, nada, nothing, silence.

Tap on the windscreen and I get some spikes, but it's very noisy, and then just stops again.

Sad, cause its a great sounding mic, great at rejecting off mic sound, and since it's designed for drums it can take a licking and keep on ticking. (drum stick hits etc)

I'm not the most electronically adept so don't really want to mess inside. I have opened it, and all wires seem to be in tact. I cannot however get the xlr connector out of the shaft.

BTW, I bought it used, its about two generations back from EV's current drum mic lineup.

Send it in for repair ... it's usually really cheap.
