I've been researching VoIP for the last couple of weeks. I've been using Skype alot lately to call other Skype users as well as calling around the US and my parents, siblings and friends in Germany via Skype at 2 cents/min. However, there are better things out there: www.sipphone.com which allows you to use your ordinary phone with an adapter. Digital sound quality! Call to other SIP account holders are free. Calls to POTS are very inexpensive. Conceivable could replace ISDN for long distance recordings. I know some of you guys are using the Audio TX Communicator. Have you ever used it in a VoIP way?

Best,
Bernard

Presently there are several VOIP products available for FREE! Some services have low costs to local landlines worldwide... they range in price from about $0.02/minute US/Canada to approximately $25.00 (average) USD for somewhat unlimited conversations in 21 countries worldwide.

My company is presently working on a VOIP to VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) to facilitate superb audio quality over a VOIP connection similar to ISDN. As good as it is now - VOIP can get better and IS better when using better codecs (ways of sending a higher quality signal). We are hoping to relase an incarnation of the software soon, but as yet we are still in a testing phase.

At present there is not a way to use AudioTX in a VOIP form. It uses it's own protocols therefore (presumably) both ends fo the conversation would require AudioTX.

For those who would desire a chance to try VOIP, go to FreeWorldDialup.com, have a broadband connection to the internet, and download a simple software dialer. With this you can call thousands of folks across the world who use the same service - 'VOIP to VOIP' or as it's called 'PC to PC'. My FWD number is: 437691 - call most anytime. I would be pleased to speak with anyone on the board.

Another possibility is Yahoo Messenger, the latest incarnation uses a PC to PC style service in Messenger.
