Hahaha.......good one. The Avalon bypasses the Clarett. The mic that is requiring so much gain is the one using the internal Clarett pre, not the Avalon. _________________ Brian Haymond

Sure. But unless I wanna get a splitter for the Avalon I have to use the pre in the Focusrite. It's an exceptional preamp but weak on gain, sadly. _________________ Brian Haymond

I saw your Sweetwater review, Brian. Sorry to hear that, I was looking forward to the Clarett 2pre for awhile. have you considered using it with a Cloudlifter or Triton Fethead for some extra gain? _________________ "There's Magic all around us; you just have to see it. No I'll run with it the way it is. Just seems they could have worked on that and made an adjustment. I spent time on the phone and sent samples to Focusrite at their request. The determined it's normal operation. _________________ Brian Haymond

It does seem like they would have thought about that. I do like FR circuitry and its sound. The FETHead seems like a good idea though to boost signal. |

Indeed. There is a unit (forget name) that would allow me to use the Avalon for both mics, but that would be in the future possibly. I'm saving to upgrade one of my software programs since I do audio production as well. _________________ Brian Haymond

AD/DA unit.
The one I use the most is the Lynx Aurora. It's just ridiculously clean and for the # of channels (which I have a tendency to use when playing music), it's one of the "best bang for the buck" pieces of equipment IMO (which was back in 2008 or so). _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Steinberg UR22. Yamaha pres and converter inside. Sounds good. Like everything about it over my old 2i2 for the same price. Has proper a headphone amp and an Input/DAW mix knob. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover
