Hi, everyone. I'm a newbie, first post, so forgive me if I ask questions you have seen ad nauseum. I have a demo, but there is no music or effects on it. I'm afraid a listener may notice the lack of that more than my voice. I know there are sites to download these:
!) what are the best sites?
2) Is $25 per download typical?
Also, there are no VO coaches around me. If anyone has taken teleclasses for VO, can you give me feedback as to their worth?
Thanks

Hey There Mr. Stutzman,
What you're looking for is a library of royalty-free music.
Unfortunately, you just missed a sale:
http://www.vo-bb.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2125&highlight=royalty
But you can check out that thread as see the names of other places that provide royalty-free music beds and sound effects.
Use the search function here, too. It's pretty good.
click on "search" near the top of the window and type in SFX or Sound Effects of Royalty Free Music.
Let me know if you need any further assistance. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Welcome aboard Dave...
You may want to make a change in your profile to reflect the state that you live in. That way it will be easier for people to recommend teleclasses or possible VO coaches in the area (if available).
I went back to the site where I originally found you, and answered some of your questions. I thought I'd better post them so others didn't think I bailed out on you. I'm hoping that some of the suggestions are helpful.
I'm glad you decided to check this place out.

Thanks, Deirdre - I went to that sight and they are advertising a Mini-Mix and Match, any 3 volumes for $99. Is that what you were talking about?I've looked at some of the vast amounts of past posts, and this forum is great. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Bailey, I got your response from the other site and sent you back one, I don't know if you got it. I'm in Jackson, TN, by the way.
Either of you have opinions on VO coaching long-distance? |

Welcome Dave,
I have been wading through the archives here and I recommend you do the same. There is a wealth of information here on every possible subject of interest to the aspiring voiceover professional.
Good luck!
P.S., A number of posts on this site mention Edge Studios in New York. They do offer a Teleclass but I have never taken it so I cannot recommend it from first hand experience. _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

Dave, welcome aboard the train...
Look into the "Learn" section of the VO-BB, and you may also consider that James Alburger and Penny Abshire in San Diego, California also teach teleclases.
If you would like to find out more go to www.voiceacting.com for more information.
Toodles

Glad to have you with us Dave!
And if neccesary there's dozens of coaches on this board as well. Submit your demo to the appropriate section and let us comment on it. We might not all be teachers, but we do know the do's and don'ts of a demo. This board is known for giving honest opinions and there is no such thing as a stupid question. Have a question on your mind, shoot. Even the very experienced people on this board learn new things everyday. Goes without saying that we also like to hear from you so feel free to share your opinions and past experiences. |
