I didn't know "The Don" was so short. These reporters are all towering over him. Even the girls.

Don has been getting a lot of press lately... a whole lot of press! I'm begining to wonder how much effect (positive and negative) this is having on the VO industry?

I guess I'm remembering what happened to the realtor trades in the mid 80's. People started noticing how much money realtors were making... RE license schools opened on every street corner... the competition for homes was overwhelming. The only good point... When the Real Estate market crashed, the only realtors left standing were the ones who had been in the business for years... all of the "get rich quick" realtors bailed out when the ground started shaking.
...( sorry for the thread-jack)... but Don is always great... I could listen to him all day! And as for his being vertically challenged... maybe that's his secret to keeping his voice low and dry.

Bailey,

I'm of two minds on this question. On the one hand, I think there's a lot of truth to the old saying "there no such thing as bad publicity." On the other hand, I think the more people know about, think about and concentrate on the voiceover, the more it's a problem for all of us. Because, at least at some level, what we do is a bit like the illusionists art. We're supposed to be invisible. We're supposed to communicate the message, not call attention to ourselves.

For Don, it's all good. But, he's already a huge success. But, I'm not sure so much publicity for our world is all to the good.

Another way to look at is this, how many people think they can "do" DLF or even sound the way he does? I don't "do" a good or even a bad imitation of DLF.

So, for every wannabe who thinks they can create a reasonable facsimile of DLF and take over "his" job - I say "have at it"... it will on leave all the other work out there for me...

What I leave anyone can else can take and work on... I do not do female voices - so all you wonderful Ladies are safe... for the moment.

Having DLF out there in the on-camera world and being promoted is great... it brings attention to our "world". Something everyone in the VO biz forgets to do is to promote ourselves... Don't let DLF or even MCM with her recent newspaper interview get all the attention... get some promotion for yourself and for our business environment (Please, spell my name right!).

Did you note DLF didn't say anything about having a gazillion wannabe's apply for his gig. He was very protective of the business of VO in general.

Oh well, I wax poetic about strange and unique ideals...

Toodles

And after seeing that photo the first time I thought Anthony was quite tall. Turns out it was the other way around!
